Nope. The video you are thinking about was taken from the ship that came along side and shot a line rocket over to send them a SAT Phone. The ship you are thinking of had the wheelhouse windows blown out and had no electronics or comms.

Actually I found info on that from 2005. a Semester at Sea Explorer ship. Got pretty battered up on a trip from Alaska to Hawaii.
