USCG MMC physical Question

Just curious, can anyone offer any guidance on whether or not the Cost Guards will accept a knee replacement or is that grounds for a failing physical? Thanks in advance.

A large percentage of the guys over 50 have had knee replacements

I’ve worked with guys who were so fat they wouldn’t go to the engine room if the elevator was broken. Just go to a concentra and have them fill the form out.

I work with guys who probably should get knee replacements because the ones they were born with are shot to shit. Mine aren’t doing so well either. Thank God for Aleve

A couple years ago I had a 32 year old engineer who had had his knees replaced.

The biggest concern for those that have had knee replacements is the increased risk of infections and ability to treat them. https://www.healthline.com/health/knee-replacement-infection

A friend of mine had a knee replacement and a minor scrap developed into a major infection. He ended up having the leg amputated just above the knee.

That’s a major reason I do elliptical and cycling. Helps the arthritis. Surgery carries a lot of risks and you have to weigh the good vs. bad.
