Uscg engineer license & us navy experience

I’m putting together my USCG Engineer license application and I have a few questions -

  1. Below is my statement of sea service that my ship’s office will sign and I will submit supporting evaluations with it. Is there any important information I can add to achieve maximum credit? Goal - REC approval to sit for my Unlimited Chief Engineer Motors license

  2. Reviewed the USCG approved course listings but did not see US Navy Basic and Advanced Firefighting courses list. However, I did see MSC (Pacific) Advanced Firefighting course, which is actually taught at the US Navy San Diego FTC school house. So, will the USCG accept US Navy basic and advanced firefighting courses?

  3. Letters of recommendation - getting 3 letters from previous US Navy CO, Chief Engineer and Port Engineer (Licensed Engineer). Will that suffice?

  4. Employment expectations - reasonable to assume that I can enter into a Chief Engineer position in the private sector if I earn my Unlimited Chief Engineer Motors license? I’ve served 52-months as Engineer Officer on 2 US Navy vessels; both vessels over 4,000 SHP.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers!
LCDR Terry J. Patterson
