Are we gonna talk about the fact that hiring calls are quietly being made to Americans for these ships? Kind of historic considering Americans haven’t had any decent opportunities on VLCCs in years. Did anyone take these calls and how are you holding up?

As I understand it, these are dark fleet tankers with a long history of breaking international sanctions, and they are under judicial seizure warrants.
Every sailor knows that a shot across the bow means: stop or we will sink you.
Let the officials in its next port sieze it then. It can’t sail forever and the US is not the world’s water cop.
I highly doubt these are “decent” ships.

Oh yeah I misspoke there. Can’t expect anything good of a dark fleet tanker.
I guess I really meant any opportunities; no one has been asking Americans to crew up a VLCC in years. But lo and behold I got this crewing request email for a VLCC via the A&M Maritime careers newsletter and then I’m suspecting the instagram post is also for the VLCC because it lines up with the timing and has similar prospects as the original hiring call in the email.

Over the past week, C-17 heavy-lift cargo planes — which are largely used for transporting military troops and equipment — conducted at least 16 flights to Puerto Rico from American military bases, according to flight tracking data reviewed by The New York Times.
The actual number of flights may be higher, as some military flights do not appear on public flight-tracking websites, according to air traffic control communications.
The C-17s flew to Puerto Rico from bases in New Mexico, Illinois, Florida, Arizona, Utah, Washington State, and Japan. It was unclear how many troops or other equipment were transported aboard those flights. Defense officials declined to comment.
The United States Southern Command has said that some 15,000 troops are already deployed in the Caribbean, one of the country’s largest naval deployments in recent years.
On Monday, Mr. Trump called it a “massive armada” and said that he was planning action on land in Venezuela “soon.”

Exactly. The USCG and Navy knows if they interfere with a Russian tanker or one that might be Russian they’ll have to answer to Trump as he is the commander in chief.
