Tug crew Christmas gift ideas

Whenever we have to work Christmas I buy a little something for the crew to open on Christmas. Past gifts include knit hats, Pelican lights and pocket multi tools. Things that aren’t too bad to buy for 5-7 people, handy to have and aren’t complete junk. So in an effort to expand my selection, what would you like as a thoughtful little boat gift? I try to stay in the $20-40 range.

The last few of Christmases I worked I gave watches, knives & flashlights bought at great discounts from Amazon throughout the year. A jeweler that I used for +20 yrs engraves for me for $5 if I let him work on his own schedule so I think it makes it more meaningful. I don’t know what I’ll bring next Christmas, me being home for this one, but I think I might bring a roll of scratch off lottery lickets. I think a roll is $100 for 100 tickets? But I don’t know what will happen if people started winning because we all live all over the place & the tickets are state/US specific. But lotto tickets sounds like fun.

I once got long sleeve tshirts printed with the tug name and vessel drawing. About $25 each. That, or Lifesavers gift pack :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

centerline employees got a Christmas ornament of a tug for their holiday bonus last year… i thought it was comical then I got a $50 Walmart gift card… I would have preferred the ornament.

In the past I’ve done good quality flashlights and head lamps, but this year I’m thinking about a decent “dry bag” style of luggage with shoulder straps. Hope it doesn’t cost a day’s pay.

Last Christmas I decided on something different than a flashlight or knife for everyone and settled on a good quality air fryer for the boat. It’s held up pretty good to this point and I’m thinking this year will most likely be wal-mart/amazon gift cards.

I’m leaning towards Yeti mugs in various colors. I offen do a “boat gift” for all of us too.

Along the lines of Yeti, MIIR makes a great coffee mug and they will etch them if you want personalization. I’ve also given gift cards to the local marine outfitter or outdoor gear store, and had a local print shop embroider quality watch caps or ball caps with the boat’s name. One captain was a real foody type and he spent some serious cash on farm to table speciality all organic grass fed no hormone blah blah blah meats, veggies and such. We had a great Christmas Eve meal as a crew.
