TS Debby Update Sunday 24 June 2012

Tropical Storm Debbycontinues to strengthen slowly with max winds now about 50kts with galesextending outward 175nm to the northeast, 150nm southeast and now 60nm to thenorthwest with storm force (50kt winds) occurring within 25nm northeast of thecenter.

TheNHC seems to be having some second thoughts regarding the forecast track ofDebby as it appears to now be moving slowly towards the northeast, however, they still think it will eventually start a westward motion. June climatology suggests a northern Florida landfallso that scenario is not out of the question. If Debby remains over water, continued slow strengthening is likely.
