That is the core of every single political issue in play today. The US has become known as one of the most corrupt nations, joining a gaggle of third world kleptocracies.
We don’t need to change the entire system of governance, though I would prefer a parliamentary system, one that would let us flush the toilet more often. We need to return free elections, free in every sense. Ban campaign contributions in cash or in kind from any source that is not a registered voter in the candidate’s district. This includes PACs, corporate donations of any sort or style, and limit a candidate’s contribution to no more than some very small percentage of what an average wage earner in that candidate’s district banks after taxes. No more buying or selling votes, no more “special interest” bribery. Make very strict and clear election finance laws and enforce them with jail and bans on any future political involvement on the part of those who defraud the voter. Return choice to voters. End gerrymandering, end all corporate involvement in elections and political process. Turn K street offices into small business incubators. Give a nice tax break for voting and make sure there are no impediments to casting a vote, make voter suppression an impeachable offense and actually take that action against any politician at any level who commits that offense.
Flush the toilet of the kind of filth represented by MAGA and the republican party.
Why are we talking about this? Fine, we can all acknowledge he’s weird looking. I called him physically repulsive. Again, ask yourself, how is this type of dialog helping your cause? It’s self indulgent and worse, very unproductive.
Come on man, you know that it is NOT the US “receiver” that pay tariffs on bribes.
It is the foreign “giver” that have to fork out tariffs.
That has been stated clearly on Truth Optional by a reliable source.
Besides, this a “gifts”, with nothing expected in return, therefor tariff is 0.
Does everybody here notice that the cult accused Hunter Biden of taking bribes from the Ukraine? Even though the cult led a senate hearing into the matter that found no evidence of bribery?
But when an Arab country bribes Cheeto jesus in plain sight with a $400 million jet they are ok with it.
My preferred go-to US constitutional lawyer, Prof. Alan Dershowitz, thinks it is ok to accept a nice big, comfy jet as a gift as long as it’s not for personal gain. So calm down everybody.
These are all (on both sides) obvious and contentious points that serve no purpose other than to get people angry. There’s examples of this kind of crap on both sides of the isle. NO, I will not give examples since we’ve all yelled at each other over it all enough. freigerman1, yeah, we get it, he’s a criminal. We are all aware that this looks to be just full fledged BS. What I fear from this kind of dialog is that Trump just flagrantly puts stuff like this out there and we all yell about it - what’s going on behind the scenes? Every time something like this comes to light I feel like the GOP is busy trying to figure out the next over reach that crosses a constitutional line. But we all fall right in line and pay attention to exactly what Trump and the GOP wants us to, yelling at each other over it and etc. There’s more afoot than just Trump accepts a plane from Quatar.
The former Vice President’s son doesn’t speak Russian nor Ukrainian, never worked in the oil & gas industry before or after but gets a multi-million dollar job in Ukraine as an oil executive & you claim that isn’t bribery or corruption? If any of Vance’s family members get any jobs like that I’m sure you’d jump out of your skin in rage claiming its the end of our democracy. Maybe the hold out true believers should start a gofundme to buy some of his artwork since he hasn’t sold a piece since his dad dropped out of the race last year. I wonder why no one is giving him hundreds of thousands of dollars for his artwork anymore?
Just shows what an amateur at corruption Hunter Biden was. The Trumps deal in billions worth of meme coins, 400 million dollar jet, sweetheart billion dollar deals with Saudi and many more all while in office.
Hunter was never in elected office but neither were the grifting Trump’s sons or son in law who make Hunter look like a Benedictine Monk.
Yup, both sides have alot of dirt on their hands. We all know this. The DOJ knows this. We allow both parties to manipulate all of us on this issue to the point where we can’t talk about anything else. What needs to be done to stop it?
Yes!! I hope so!!! The sweetheart billions (+$600 BILLION) deal involves Saudi Arabia giving US Companies & Americans billions of dollars to build & manufacturer things for them. Instead of us, you, me & all American Taxpayers giving $600 billion to Ukraine to kill people, to make widows, orphans & cripples, Trump has worked out a deal where Saudi Arabia gives us $600 BILLION to build things, to make the world a better place. I’m not surprised one bit that liberals absolutely hate that. Not me, good on Trump. Now if Vance’s cousin who doesn’t speak Arabic & never worked in the tech/construction industry gets a VP job you & me both & cry corruption & bribery. Until then, good job on the $600 billion in contracts.
Well, I think you know that congressional committee assignments are based on seniority. So, regularly getting rid of your congressmen guarantees your congressional delegation will always have less power than other delegations, because committee assignments are crucial to getting bills passed.
Also, Congress runs on arcane knowledge and personal connections within Congress. Freshmen congressmen are usually useless because they don’t know how the organic system of how Congress actually works. It takes years for them to learn all that.
Not talking about getting rid of my congressmen regularly, but large scale get the enablers out and start with some new blood. Now that sort of experiment was tried with the Tea Party - sounded good at the time but most of those folks turned out to be one issue congressman, and it was a disaster! Let’s not do that again… If there are enough Freshmen congressmen that may squash the SOME of the useless power plays. I haven’t seen a whole lot of good work (or any work) being done in the current “system”… In other words…a reset of the legislative branch… It’s a pipe dream, I know…
