Truck xmission -- for a change!

Since we’re not overdoing it on ship systems, does anyone have intimate knowledge of C6 xmissions here?

Ford C6 from old trucks and cars or Cat C6 clutches?

gr8 2 hear a educated reply… C6 Cat clutches are a bit new for me but I have a '89 F-250 I changed xmission oil in and now it only goes in reverse.
it wants to grab in fwd gear but won’t go. I suspect possibly if i were at 40 mph or something things might be different, but … IDK,

Find some old-fashioned Type F fluid. Sounds like you used some modern junk for fluid.

thx for that, when i get to that project i’ll dump the pan and look for a ‘alledged’’ screen filter that is said to exist other than the regular obvious one.
and yes, I used 0’reillys oil on sale and there are a couple adjustments on the outside to check with my newly calibrated torque wrench.
it’s spring here on the ranch and between fencing and irrigating i have little time for my personal stuff.

when you change the gear box oil drop a magnet into the dirty oil container, see if you have gear damage

Thx Bruce, I don’t always do that! This fluid has driven about 150 feet backwards in the last year is all. But a magnet it’ll get.
