Tropical Storm Franklin has likely reached its peak at about 40 knots and will likely start to transition into an extratropical low over the next 24-36 hours as it moves over cooler ocean waters and encounters increasing wind shear. Gale forces winds of 35-40 knots (force 8) extend outward only some 60-75 nautical miles to the east and 40 nautical miles or less to the west.
The disturbance southeast of Bermuda is likely to become the next tropical depression or tropical storm as the satellite image suggests a well-defined circulationas it moves west-northwestward.
