So I check my VM yesterday at lunch time, and lo and behold, I have been cleared by one of the agencies I applied to some months ago and the gentleman from HR who recruited me offered me a choice of two NEO dates (New Employee Orientation). This for a QMED Jr. Engineer job.
I returned his message and sent an email for belt and suspenders, and it turns out he’s out of the office till Monday. I’m not going to give formal notice here at work until I talk to the real live guy but the fact that I was offered a choice of NEO dates is pretty much a sure bet that I’m hired.
It’s now the wait over the weekend so I can finally move forward with this part of my life. I got one of my motorcycles running so I’ll get some road time in.
If I can do it anyone can! Don’t let age or years ashore discourage you.

I appreciate that water. I’m pretty excited. It’s down to getting the actual offer letter and entry on duty date, and I have to wait till Monday to confirm everything with their HR, but I’ve made it this far and a few more days won’t kill me. I just wish I’d been able to answer the phone when they called with a date for orientation. My point of contact does job fairs and wears a lot of hats, and he stays busy so it’s not easy to get hold of him.
Actually got two offers, one from the other big seagoing agency but I know who I’m going with.
