How soon will they be contracting out the operation and management of those vessels?
Hopefully they do not contract them all out in one big contract and instead split them up so more unions get work and are able to crew them easier?
There are some exceptions. My buddy was on a USNS, but HOS crewed, boat out of Kings Bay.
Those boats are a rare exception. Hornbeck built and owned and then MSC exercised the purchase agreement in the contract, which MSC has since never done again because of a number of problems. Same with VADM Wheeler from chouest.
Just out of curiosity, how did you do that? I have my 3rd Unl and Master of Towing, but have been pretty much all tugs since I got out of school.
You can PM me if you don’t want to clutter the thread.
Started on tugs with limited license, upgraded to Master Unlimited inland and second mate oceans with tonnage restriction, then worked on supply boats to remove the tonnage restriction.
Thanks!
