What can I say.
I had no other option and despite warning banners , there are other similar threads i had no choice but to open a new thread, what I was very reluctant to do as it is like opening a can of worms.
The reasons of my reluctance and anxiety are below:
All threads on the issue closed with 5x supersonic speed in contrast with some other accident threads that are still in accessible condition. Weird.
Such a great topic .
" The 23-member crew was awarded the U.S. Maritime Administration’s Gallant Ship Award during National Maritime Day observances in Washington, D.C., recognizing what MARAD described as extraordinary professionalism, courage and seamanship during the March 10, 2025 incident. "
I am not sure .No it can not be . I need to pinch myself real hard.
But what I am interested in is all that happened prior all this gallant and heroic action .
On that issue the article is silent with one only exception here:
:" Prosecutors said the anchored Stena Immaculate had been visible on radar for 36 minutes before impact, yet Motin failed to take action to avoid the collision ."
36 minutes only??? with speed ca 15 kts and Solong 1 radar at 12 miles range off center and another one at 6 Nm may be off center or not she could have been seen for 60 minutes easily.
But Solong was invisible and as per all early , multiple articles and witness press statement appeared out of the blue, out of fog like a ghost, poltergeist or even philippino MUMU .
The preliminary report mentioned , that on both ships there was no dedicated lookout, most complained that Solong did not warn Stena about the impending collision.
Sure thing.
That means to me, we have another case where "expectation bias " is to blame .
The Stena watchkeeping officer on the bridge ( if he was there ) was expecting to be warned by the other vessel aiming at him deliberately or not for abut 1 hr and he could see nothing on the radars ( ARPA/AIS) and through fog patches and many other things he could do not.
Expectation bias may turn out to be , an all encompassing explanation .Fits perfectly to Ever Forward too.
This is a joke.
