I love the bit where they say an “extended, complete suspension would put at risk the continued viability of USMMA.”
What a sad and discouraging joke that is. Maybe the KP cabal can keep the boondoggle alive but it takes a real cynic to claim that the American merchant marine or the DoD need the the “children” who are so threatened by the workplace. KP is irrelevant, it has been since 1945.
Standard “Shore Leave Policy”. . . . Noooooooooooooo!!!

Must be a better way to make your point than this. Next thing you know this will be Yelp for mariners and just as useless.

As you said Mund was a Regimental Training Officer, a member of the Commandant’s staff if my web search is correct. That position is Administration, not Faculty. The two are completely different and not synonymous.
That’s why I also added “Admin” to my comment as you can see

If you added “Admin” to your comment you could have just as easily deleted “Faculty”. Since you are a KPer I assume you know, or knew the difference.
When I decided to join this forum I made a vow not to engage in any pissing contests and I don’t intend to start now. At the same time I don’t like to see a group slandered without regard to the facts. In this case, the Faculty were not involved with what happened. Unless you privy to facts I have not seen or read on the web.

you are correct - it was NOT Faculty is was Admin - I was trying to make the connection that there WERE Academy Personnel involved and should have left the word Faculty out - my mistake
Whether one believes the place should exist I leave for another day. I do believe the school’s Administration, both MARAD and the people there have mismanaged the place. I have sailed with a good number of academy folks some better than others but the education is something I never second guessed.
I do know someone who teaches there. While I am sure he doesn’t give a rat’s ass what is said here I can tell you he cares a tremendous amount about the kids there and what is taught. And not that it should matter, he took the job after retiring from a previous career so it wasn’t like he needed the money. To me anyway there is a big difference between the school’s screwed up Administration and those trying to provide the academic education, i.e, Faculty (as flawed as they maybe).

I agree with what you’re saying and I sure don’t think it’s the Faculty that is flawed
Honor the 142 by ending the boondoggle that demeans their sacrifice. They attended a school that had a purpose, they served that purpose, and they gave their lives in pursuit of the school’s mission to serve the nation in time of war.
Let them rest with honor, the war is over, quietly close the doors so the current state of the school and MARAD will not stain their memory.

And do away with MARAD also - no need for them either in this Day & Age…
That won’t go well.
Ditto…
Arrogant, entitled, and so much smarter than SUNY State School Trash. Granted, there will be no sexual harassment of KP’s precious snowflakes but the on board dynamics will still be “interesting” to say the least.
KP would have done so much better if they choose to tag along with ANY other State school training vessel.

Kings Point cadets are supposed to also be placed on Cal Maritime’s training ship, but I have to hear of any confirmation.
I’m a SUNY grad and the majority of friends I sail with and socialize with at home are KP grads. There is no time like the present to get all parties involved to stow that “us vs. them” mentality. It just doesn’t mean a damn thing in the grand scheme if they choose to use that license they’re earning.
I like kings point bekause i went there and it wuz free amd now I work as a Cheif Mate for MsC amd I make tons of monie.
Oh dear. The important thing is that you never stop learning. Why don’t you try this link? It’s free, educational, and it just might help. Good luck!
