Researching New Career Opportunities

My husband is looking to change his career. His background is Metal Fabrication & Welding with a Draftsman’s Education.
We are currently in the middle of the Rocky Mountains…(and having water withdrawals! ).
We know that any Maritime Career would mean a major move, but I think a big change may be what we need!

My questions to you:
Is there a demand for someone with his background?
Where do we begin? The SIU?

Start calling shipyards up and down the coasts and sending resumes to them.

The Shale drilling companies can’t find enough welders and are paying really well. Same with the GoM Rigs, I assume.
