Many thx for the link. In my local news joints there are many stories the ship is owned by Syrians residing in Lebanon and Danish think tank analyst Mr Jacob Kaarsbo is quoted as the source of this revelations. I am still looking for some evidence He actually said it.
Another think tank member Jens Wenzel, a defence analyst at Nordic Defence Analysis.
Facts are evolving, I seeâŚ

WARNING!!!
There is an American affiliated ship (cargo loaded in Texas) with 170000 cbm of highly volatile LNG onboard heading up the English Channel right now.
If they should have a fire onboard it may blow up, causing a major catastrophe in this heavily trafficked waterway.
LNG has a history of causing accidents: Appendix 4. History of accidents in the LNG industry
Even if it doesnât blow up at sea it should be banned from calling any port in Europe with such dangerous cargo onboard.
Send it back where it came from to be on the safe side.
I think Rishi Sunak said it bestâŚ
âStop the boats!â
Thought that Danes are reliable in their reporting . I am sending your link to local news joints so they can alarm the gov. institutions as PL is geting most of itâs LNG from USA . Can not think of the winter if they stop it . Reckon it is time to move to Davaos PH again, THX for the link . Think the gov, will have emcy meeting next day and i will start packing . Cheers
LNG transportation by sea has an envious safety record over the last fifty or so years but the same cannot be said about the Handy Bulker segment .
How many handy bulker loaded with pure Ammonium Nitrate has blown up in the last fifty or so years?
And the heat keeps on coming and clips are getting longer and bigger experts voice their opinions.
And may be the answer is simple. It is the cargo of Russian origin and since thousands of sanctions have already been imposed on their trade/export then this shipment surely will not earn any money.
That the interviewers donât know anything about the subject they are talker about is kind of expected, but that the at least the âexpertâ they interview is expected to do so.
This reminds about a old saying from the oilfield; âan expert is anybody from out of townâ.
The way I see it is that is hasnât been explained how the hull and rudder damage has occurred.
The ship has been loaded with a cargo that while innocuous by itself when used as a fertilizer can be used as a powerful explosive with minimal addition by a rogue state actor.
The Russians have made almost daily threats to NATO nations up to and including nuclear annihilation.
If I was writing a screenplay or a novel I couldnât think of a better way of damaging another country while preserving paper thin denial-ability.
You donât need to be an expert to turn NH4NO3 into a highly efficient explosive.
Now sit down and fasten your seat belts please.
THIS IS UNBELEIEVABLE!!!
Acoording to well known FB account and maritime news joint based in India - Maritime Isight - the vessel is Russian and âŚ

What saves our Indian friends from loosing completely the credibility is they quote

What are Maritime Insight editors drinking or smoking one could only guess.
Russian Floating Bomb With 2000 Tonnes Of Explosives Spotted Off Kent Coast (marineinsight.com)
But they offer sth what I have not found in another news sources.
Allegeddly she ( Ruby) was chartered (voyage charter) from Dubai based Owners( Listed in GISIS/EQUASIS) by another Dubai based entity which has Russian connections.
Looks to me there is concerted effort of cenversion . 1 st - cargo was loaded in Russia hence Russian connection and now 2nd- it was voyage chartered by entity with Russian conections. I smell here another Russian Gate story but this time maritime.
The Marine Insight site apparently has a high google rating, it often makes the first page of search results but the quality of the posts varies widely. In general I wouldnât consider them to be reliable.
See post #28,
Agree, but to make 20000 m.t of NH4NO3 into explosives take some effort.
One way is to keep it in an enclosed space (like cargo holds) and let it decompose over a long period of time, preferably w/o ventilation:
Mixing it with fuel oil from the bunker tanks would be a way to make it more explosive, but it still need a detonator to set off an explosion.

Gets too technical for me, but here is more info for those who want to get deeper into the matter:

The Beirut case:
Maybe getting this ship to somewhere were her cargo can be discharged and to a shipyard were her damages can be repaired, would be good way to avoid any more problems.
Better than to let her sit at anchor somewhere until the cargo actually become dangerous.
PS> Her declared destination was Las Palmas, Canary Isle, but is that the destination of the cargo, or just a bunkering port? Anybody know the answer?
Somewhere a consignee is waiting for his cargo.
We are talking about chemical and physical properties ad nauseam and all already know it and can find themselves on dedicated web pages.
Also one can find the volumes of fertilizer production w/w . USA is no.1 , India is no 2 and Russia is no 3. One can also find the volumes transported by sea. Just divide 1 milion ton by 25 K tons ( about Ruby size DWT size) to figure how many ships are required for transport .And there is more, much more then 1 mil Mt for export w/w. So this cargo is omnipresent in dry bulk shipments .
All in the know are familiar with this. I watch/read local news and internet news joints and I read complete nonsense and propaganda on steroids. The modus operandi is simple .Copy> Paste and it is multiplied w/o any veryfication , fact checking and it is good as long as hype is built to the point of hysteria.
The comments sections in this news joints ( mostly tabloids) are shut down, so those in the know can not explain and/or confront uterly stupid or programmed scribblers who are paid to demonise Russia in every way possible. One can do a bomb from the ammonia based fertilizer and one with know how can do it from one kg of sugar. Simple as that.
Here is a very nice summary on M/V Ruby case.
Q. Who can do it better and tell about it then Dr.Sal ?
A. NOBODY.
Loved the nuclear blast simulation what seems to be a topic frequently discussed nowadays with great enthusiasm and passion by " Nintendo" generation. In my younger times one had to be 'M.A.D. " even to think about it.
Tweendecker? I am not sure .Thought tweendeckers were thing of the past.
Is MV Ruby Anchored Off England Another Beirut Waiting to Happen? ⌠NO! (youtube.com)
Interesting video from Sal as usual.
Just one question.
Would the AN be bagged? I donât know but I would have thought it would be in bulk in that type of ship. As Spo says not a tweendeck ship.
2004 ed. a bit stale info .
Here is the publication :

The M/V Ruby is a geared handysized bulker so big bag is a possibility, but my guess would be in bulk.
