As opposed to the Panama Canal Authority’s position, a great example of matters arising from this article is the “Ever Given” incident and the SCA’s devolution of all responsibility as detailed under “Responsibilities” within it’s “Rules of Navigation”.

The relationship between the vessel bridge team and the pilot can be complex, especially in high-pressure situations. Authority issues and disagreements between the pilot and the vessel bridge team can create confusion and lead to poor decisions.
