Fellow sailors. My wages 8 years ago were less than half of what I make now, at the SAME position, at the SAME company!!! Now, who gives a rats ars if one company or another will get a $ 100 raise. We should ALL be grateful for the ridiculously high wages we are making. As a Captain, sometimes it’s bad, BUT most of the time it’s all grits and gravy. We all know the oil patch is fixing to be balls to the wall, AGAIN. It’s a global thang. There are not enough people coming into this industry to keep up with the growth. If you keep your credentials straight, you WILL get more money. “PERIOD”. Whew…do I get a hallelujah? That’s just my opinion…
Hey guys, we just got a new cook on the boat. And he was told by the people that hired him that there was supposed to be a raise in the first quarter of 2013. Did not say how much though.
