Once the storms pass, the sea goes back to looking like it always has. But apparently many of the small villages on the coast have been devastated & people might not be able to return for 18 months.
It’s two different events. The system that sent a storm surge into the Alaska villages in the Yukon Delta was in the Bering Sea. That storm was the remnants of typhoon Halong and struck on the 12th of Oct.
The OP is from the 19th of Oct and is about systems in the Pacific.
