we all know the moment, where and why it had to happen
no exultation at one side’s victory and another’s defeat. Just a moment in history worth the remembrance today

Oh SNAP!
Someone’s on their toes tonight.
Uncle B.S., where were you April 9th, 1865?
April yer 9th, 1865… Let me think… Court stenographer, Appottamox, Virginia. I’m trying to get down the opening statements of a defense attorney who sounds a lot like fog-horn leg-horn when all of a sudden 200 guys in blue and gray suits come ridin’ into the court room on horseback…

Yep. Some of the last battles we’re fought here locally after the fact… we are a bit hard headed down here. Battle of Blakeley (4,000 CSA vs 16,000 USA)
Our CSA brothers in Texas fought for about a month after this…and they won the last “Offical” battle of the Civil War.
If I only had more Doritios!

Hell, if memory serves me correctly the CSS SHENANDOAH was sinking Yankee whalers in the Chukchi Sea all the way till August '65…even though James Waddell had learned of the surrender of Lee’s army way back in June. Instead of being tried, Waddell ended up with a guided missile destroyer named after him. Oh well…it’s the Navee afterall.

HELL, I was born way before that. That’s me sitting at the table wearing the blue.
Its also a good book to read. I forget the name but type CSS Shenandoah into the amazon machine and it should spit it back out.
CAPT Waddell had only heard of the South’s surrender by way of mouth. Once he saw a newspaper he accepted the news and tried to figure out a way to save his and his officer’s necks.

The Last Shot: The Incredible Story of the C.S.S. Shenandoah and the True Conclusion of the American Civil War - a good read.
