I see no problem with it being displayed at a museum as an artefact. The confederate rebellion was defeated though, strike the southern colors and up with the Stars and Stripes. Otherwise it’s a dishonour to all those who fought to keep the Union.
A private individual has their first amendment right to fly the flag. A civil war fort turned museum, definitely a part of the history.
It just doesn’t belong over a government building.
Is the Swartz Sticker and important part of history
All a distraction to the TPP happenings… I rest my case.
Mr Roof did not kill anyone in the name of the confederacy.
But over history many people have killed in the name of Christianity and Islam etc.
So before we ban the confederate flag, would it not make sense to ban the bible and koran first? They are responsible for far more death. If you don’t think so have a little look at what is going on in Syria just now.

Christianity and Islam do not have flags which symbolize their ideologies. The Confederate Flag is used and seen by many as a wedge between those who believe that the South is SEPARATE from the North and I say by being SEPARATE these people consider the South to be BETTER than the rest of the USA. Why else would you want your own flag for Christ’s sake?
Why do people in the South who venerate the Confederate Flag feel themselves better is the key to the entire dilemma of two flags? Each person who holds the Confederate Flag as important (or more important than the US Flag) has a reason why they do. Do they think they are better because they are more “country” or is it because they are better “fighters” or is it because they are more “patriotic to the cause” or is it because they are more “white”? You Southerners here tell us why you hold the Confederate Flag so dear to you? Enlighten us narrow minded Yankees of something key to this that we are missing.
In the case of Mr. Roof, it is because they are white and hate blacks. I believe that is the case for many in the South who show the Confederate Flag. I have personally witnessed some of the most brazen and stark white supremacy in NE Texas right at the time that James Byrd was dragged to his death in 1998 because he was black. I tell you from direct knowledge that the people I encountered at that moment who were patent racists had Confederate Flags plastered to their trucks. Racism and white supremacy still exists deep in the souls of many Southerners and they are hiding that behind a dirty and blood covered flag!
You're not missing anything I doubt anyone here holds the flag dear. The pisser here is you assume every person from down south does. I hate to break it to you but we aren't all wrapped in the rebel flag at birth. A birth certificate from a southern state isn't a lifetime membership to the klan. After several days of this thread being up if pro flag Red Neckerson was here he would have answered you by now. Unless you use one your troll accounts to answer your questions it may go unanswered. Does it matter anyway? You seem to have your mind made up already.

maybe I do but I still love you all the same Johnny Reb…
anyone tell me if they fly a Confederate flag at the Chouest compound in Galliano? Looks like they are going down in flames just like the old South did in 1865!

They have a flag.
Something to chew on while you blast the south as race hating mongrels.
3 states on there from the south and all 3 are mostly gay and religious hate crimes.
The real shocker is this one. I can see why they quit publishing it based solely on race hate crimes. It doesn’t fit into the medias agenda. Last one I could find updated was from 2006, no more reporting it this way after the facts came out.

Holly cow… You racist treehuggers up in the NW are just something else.

so we have here what they call a Mexican standoff…
so much hate to share…

you gotta stop making this so DAMNED easy for me there Fraq
Hell, my boy killed his first deer before he was two!
I think this photo says all that really matters for me…
Think about its message…if you are capable?
You seem to spew more hate speech in this forum than any other member. There are hateful comments toward southern Mariners in most of your posts regardless of the topic. It’s curious that you started this thread when you yourself proclaim this to be a politics free forum. You seem to be the most egregious violator of this unwritten forum rule.
Kind of off subject, but I gotta know; why can’t ccaptain reply to threads? Did he say something hurtful and offend someone’s tender sensibilities? (Say it ain’t so) but really, this must be torture for you ccaptain! What’s the deal?

Politics here you say? Where have I mentioned either political party in this thread? I HAVEN’T!
What I loathe is a backwards Southern culture that somehow still 150 years after LOSING the Civil War somehow believes they WON and are somehow SUPERIOR to the rest of the USA! This is why you venerate that blood covered flag. I also believe that a great many uneducated whites in the South are patent racists and view your flag as a symbol of that hideous ideology!
Now…good day to you SIR!

No, this is a result of the change in the forum format only but it sure seems to be taking a very long time for the gCaptain management to restore my full ability to participate however I have enduring patience and as long as I can start new threads and reply to those, I remain undaunted in my crusade against Joe Boss and his peons!
I’m fond of the battle flag, but I’ve got to agree that it doesn’t belong on government buildings unless it’s part of a historical display. It’s nice seeing it displayed privately, though, mostly because it makes northerners so upset. I prefer the Crossland banner (illustrated in my avatar), but almost nobody else even knows where it came from so it’s not much of a symbol to anyone but me!
Besides their battle standard it was on CSA Marylanders belt buckles as well wasn’t it?
Such inane blather is not what this thread is supposed to be concerned with…
