PM me if you want more info. I assume you have a beard??? Noble isn’t the only company to be “antibeard”, it has more to do with wearing a respirator than with fashion or hygiene. I think you will find most oil companies will be antibeard.

Definitely the respirator issue. If you’re working on a drillship or any exploration rig, beards and H2S are not a good mix.

That’s not it alt all with Noble…I was there and know. It is some pet peave of a long dead president of the company. This was told to us point blank by Don Jacobsen, VP Operations.
Now some wells with hight H2S chance required all aboard to be clean shaven. I have seen the signs at the heliport saying that before being allowed to board a helicopter to the rig, you had to shave.

I agree with C.Captain, its really only required to be clean shaven on wells with H2S, due to the respirators. All of the other drilling contractors I have worked for, never required you to be clean shaven, unless the well required it.

Maybe I’m mistaken but thought that when making any new hole, or exploration drilling it was totally uncertain whether H2S was present in the formation until you found it. Then it might be too late. Production or completion work would be a known.
