Noble

Hey I found a few older posts about them but I was wondering on Noble and I have a few questions. This is for the new builds and general

  1. Does they still pay $400 for travel for the gulf?
  2. Do they still only offer internet to the contractor?
  3. Are they still antibeard?
  4. If they are asking me to come to Texas are my chances pretty good?
  5. How are they on training?
  6. Is it hard to work on the bridge if your are an AB? They said Id mostly be doing roustabout work.

Ive been looking to get my foot in the door on a drillship and I hope its about to happen! Thanks in advance

If you’re an AB you won’t see the bridge other than when you stop by when a helicopter is due to land.

I’ll say no more about the rest of your questions. It’s already all been said here before

PM me if you want more info. I assume you have a beard??? Noble isn’t the only company to be “antibeard”, it has more to do with wearing a respirator than with fashion or hygiene. I think you will find most oil companies will be antibeard.

Definitely the respirator issue. If you’re working on a drillship or any exploration rig, beards and H2S are not a good mix.

That’s not it alt all with Noble…I was there and know. It is some pet peave of a long dead president of the company. This was told to us point blank by Don Jacobsen, VP Operations.

Now some wells with hight H2S chance required all aboard to be clean shaven. I have seen the signs at the heliport saying that before being allowed to board a helicopter to the rig, you had to shave.

I agree with C.Captain, its really only required to be clean shaven on wells with H2S, due to the respirators. All of the other drilling contractors I have worked for, never required you to be clean shaven, unless the well required it.

Maybe I’m mistaken but thought that when making any new hole, or exploration drilling it was totally uncertain whether H2S was present in the formation until you found it. Then it might be too late. Production or completion work would be a known.
