THE BEST ADVICE EVER IMHO! I have been shipping out for 18 years, 4 of it as unlimited ChEng. I still have all of my sea letters going back to the submarine I was stationed on while in the US Navy. I have requested new sea letters each time I had even a temporary assignment, even for a few days, if I was sailing in a “higher” billet. Each sea letter specifically has my days in each billet. My seatime is VERY easy for an evaluater to understand, and I have been approved for every upgrade I have ever applied for… I also have never tried to scam my way into an upgrade with questionable sea time.
Same here. I have a big stack of letters.
Scan them in to a safe location, cloud server, external hard drive, etc.

Electronic is great, so you don’t have to carry the paper, but. . . Computer archival experts say the best back up is paper or microfilm. All electronic media will fail, and several cloud storage companies have already gone under, or had all files frozen by government agencies for investigations into something or other. Just don’t rely on a government agency to have accurate records.

She didn’t say to shred the actual letters after you scanned them. If your house burns down and you don’t have electronic copies you’re screwed.
I finally was able to sign off the ship. We were in Charleston, so I stayed over a few days and tested there. Passed everything with better scores than I had hoped for. Now to wait for the NMC to read the email, from the very kind lady at the REC, and finish processing my package, and send me my sticker.
I’ll be out of room for stickers pretty soon.
