Ah a fatalist joins the ranks.
Ideal outcome at this point is to lower the R(0) of the fake news virus to less than 1. Nobody knows what to expect, hope for the best prepare for the worse.
The USA was established by a bunch of whiners who would not accept the status quo. When the citizens of the USA cease to question those in authority and their decisions they will revert to to nation of serfs ruled by those with money and power just as that they rebelled against 244 years ago.
Somehwere up in the is thread several people talk about how Crozierâs action opened us up to attack from our enemies, albeit in a time of peace.
Yet Modlyâs actions, which he admits were based on second-guessing POTUS45âs reactions, have now lead to one of our 11 aircraft carriers having a temp acting as captain, and the Navy having no Navy Secretary.
How prepared does that leave us? The purpose of leadership is to avoid chaos, not create it.
Watching certain people on this thread pontificate about military preparedness out of one side of their mouths, and then justify military unpreparedness by defending bureaucratic ineptness from the other side of their mouths, is like watching a bunch of 10-year old Russian gymnasts on meth turn themselves into pretzels while playing Twister.
Eddie Gallagher wasnât pardoned and nor was he convicted of war crimes. Capt. Crozier wasnât fired for what he said, he was fired for how he said it.

They should focus those concerns on gathering facts instead of mearly whatâs fed to them by their favorite {media outlet without considering the bias of that outlet}*. This will aid in applying
to determine how they feel about these situations. At the end of that process one might still disagree with the decisions made which is fine.
*-edited out the well used but apparently confusing acronym MSM as some expressed needing âhelpâ with that concept.
I have often wondered. Who are the MSM outlets? Can someone please list them? It seems whenever there is a difference of opinion it is blamed on some MSM outlet rather than facts.Iâd rather avoid all these MSM outlets as they seem to be FOS.
The purpose of the military is to be prepared at any time for war. How does having one of our 11 carriers limping along with a temp captain and a sick crew, as well as having a Navy without a Navy Secretary, help us be prepared for war?
Just because we have a reality TV star as president doesnât mean reality TV logic is in play hereâŚ
You could be right about the Navy seal, I didnât pay that much attention to the details in that case. Should have used different terms.
As far as sources of info, if itâs something that I find interesting I usually try to dig in a little deeper then the mass media. For example I actually read a condensed version of the Muller report. Trump didnât tell the truth about what the report says.
I was aware there was a popular TV show several years ago called The Apprentice that was getting huge ratings. It starred a bombastic New York real estate developer hiring and firing people. Iâm not a network TV watcher so I never got to see it however from what I can gather, itâs still playing but for a much wider audience.
In my opinion, a very important part of this situation is being overlooked. Captain Crozierâs letter found its way into the hands of the media and I have no doubt that this was by design. What is very disturbing is that he felt he had no other option than to take this very drastic measure in order for the situation to be addressed. That speaks volumes and it would appear that the Navy has issues with their culture. The spoken words and conduct of Thomas Modly only validate that.

Without getting into what the CO did and if I agree or disagree, I have a question.
How would this CO have acted if one of his Junior Officers or Senor Enlisted (from the EO on down) had sent this letter out? Think about it, what if one of those I mentioned feared for the safety of âTheirâ Crew and sent the letter out as they were not happy about the response they were receiving from the CO. I would be willing to bet that the CO would have brought them up on charges and rightly so.
We keep hearing Captain Crozier intended for his letter to be leaked but nothing about how it happened or who brought it to the San Francisco Chronicle.
I accept the fact what captain Crozier did was wrong but his immediate superior rear admiral (was it Baker?) said he was not going to forward the letter. The captain should have had enough smarts and network to convey his message higher up the tree.
What I find reprehensible is the politicians not following the chain of command. A quiet word from on high to a brass hat in the puzzle palace would have seen the whole problem go away. In this forum we should be aware of what happens when one crashes the chain of command.
Modly flew aboard the C-37B, a Gulfstream business jet modified for military use. The per-hour cost of flying it is $6,946.19 per hour, according to the Navy official who was not authorized to speak publicly. Flight time for the Guam trip was about 35 hours for a total cost of $243,151.
An interesting view from the National Law Review, saying that Captain Crozierâs removal from command may be illegal under law. Of course, it is just one lawyerâs opinion, and it doesnât change his career arc (edited at âŚ):
Captain Crozier should be fully protected under the Military Whistleblower Law that applies to the Navy. This law has a broad definition of protected activity, mirroring the Whistleblower Protection Act covering most federal employees. Under the law, Captain Crozier is permitted to disclose information that he reasonably believes could constitute a âsubstantial and specific danger to public health or safety.â The whistleblower law also allows Captain Crozier to report âgross mismanagementâ committed by the U.S. Navy.
⌠In Chambers v. Department of Interior , the U.S. Appeals Court Federal Circuit held that health and safety-related whistleblower disclosures would be protected if there was a âlikelihood of harm resulting from the danger.â The harm reported would also have to be âlikely to occur in the immediate or near future.â
Brits also have an opinion I guess. To them, the US are a bunch of separatists refusing to pay their tithe to the Empire.
Now, we all work for the Federal Reserve! Ha! Guess the jokes on us at the end. We are all losers, some worse than others.
I did it. It was me.
Couldnât happen to a nicer guy.
Poor guy. Paying the price for being naive and stupid.
