Military Sealift Command

hello first post and new to this forum as a member. im from Jacksonville Fl and just out of Bluewater maritime school last July and have since then been beating down doors for a ship to jump on as OS. i responded in the OCT. posting for OS advancement program and was accepted the 1st of NOV and just 2 weeks ago got a clearing from my doctor over some medical stuff the command wanted me to adress. well last week i got the call and was told to be in Norfolk the 12th of FEB for NEO. i got my sea bags packed and plane ticket in hand, have given my boss his 2 weeks from my job at the airport. So overjoyed that i have a boat to ship on! been in a dash to get crap settled here before i head out.

Work hard, learn a lot, and have fun.

much appricated!

Congrats @black93fox on getting the call it seems like your stuff is moving along quickly compared to other people I have talked to that got selected for the OS position. I guess ima have to wait until SU opens up to get on with MSC.

Congrats @suburbredneck on getting the call I know your excited about that.
AB special will work they denied me on AB because I haven’t gotten the RFPNW signed off yet.
Times change! They must have changed the rules. Good luck and take advantage of all the schools they will give you.

Well, i submitted my app for SU yesterday (2/7/12) so i will see what happens…

hmmm i had a buddy(went to Bluewater maritime school together) of mine who for what i think struck out on the OS deck spot from last october, i told him i knew that SU was opening up the 6th and to get his app together, so as soon as SU posted to the website the 6th he had his App in the mail, trying to help him out but cant for much longer i fly out to NEO norfolk this sunday, so after this he is on his own, hope u both get lucky wait a month and give them a call, if they like ya they will be phoning you soon to let u know youve been picked, w/o no medical issues they want corrected after the call u should be flying to neo in about 4 months.

Takes 4 months after your physical to get to neo!? Did my physical last week an got the call at the beginning of the month then the next week had my drug test. Thought they were moving somewhat fast.

hmmm guess ur experience was different*
i got called the beginning of NOV. and this sunday i fly out, would of been a month quicker but had a few medical things to clear up… guess im not being fast tracked.

if you can let us know how NEO goes and how many people are there…

Hey Mike,

Did you apply for SU? Long story but I had to reapply for Second Electrician. Restarting the wait sux, but it goes by quick when you don’t think about it…

I just got a packet of info mentions uniform requirements. Didn’t think msc had uniforms.

Skivies and shower shoes!

I will PM you tomorrow

MSC unlicenced doesn’t wear uniforms, per se. Deck dept wears blue jeans and blue collared shirts. They particularly prefer chambray. I see in their propaganda brochures that they are also all wearing blue poopy suits. Officers wear khackies.
