DVIDS - News - Military Sealift Command Begins Offering an Expedited Onboarding Process for CIVMAR Licensed Officers.

This initiative establishes a rapid, planned approach toward onboarding CIVMAR licensed officers by designating temporary appointments - not to exceed 120 days - within three weeks of receiving hiring applications. Once the CIVMAR is deemed fit for assignment, the temporary appointment is converted to permanent appointment.

“We’re able to accelerate the hiring process and get people on assignment quicker,” said MSC Director, Marine Employment (Afloat Staffing/Recruiting)

This came up on my feed, don’t know anything about this site.

Maybe the sea is beckoning you back? …or maybe just msc really desperate for warm bodies?

I thought it could have been a lot quicker way back when I was hired with MSC in 06. Fresh out school, just took Advanced Firefighting a few months before as a license requirement, and then MSC insisted on sending all new hires to Basic FF before a ship.

CBRD training, not that hardly any ship was actually equipped to deal realistically with a CBRD event.

SERE training, in case a 3rd Engineer is captured by the enemy on liberty in Sicily?

Not to mention sitting in the Pool before your first assignment, even though people were overdue for relief even back then.

Yeah, I think they can streamline deployment.
