Good afternoon all, its been quite awhile since I have posted on the forum. I have started a marine consulting and surveying business in my time off and have managed to become accredited through one of the “training agencies” and have managed to get into the recreational side of surveying. That being said I would really like to get into the commercial side of things, cargo surveys, heavy lift surveys, on charter / off charter surveys, etc. I live on the east coast in Virginia so I am close to the major Virginia ports as well as Baltimore and Philly. Anyone have pointers on how to get into the commercial side of surveying?
Thanks, I have looked into both but both require apprenticeship. I am going to NAMS and see what my sea time and license do for as a substitute for apprenticeship. Thanks again for the info.
