One pervasive bit of tagging on the Gulf Coast was seen on lots of hopper rail cars (other types, too) and that was The Rambler from the Port of Beaumont. His signature was a champagne glass with seven bubbles and a date. I have heard that he listed other ports/towns, but all I remember seeing was Beaumont. Don’t know a whole lot about him. I don’t spend near as much time on the waterfront as I used to, so I haven’t seen one in years. A quick Google search came up with a sample picture.
