In a fast-evolving maritime industry, safety must remain priority, says Knut-Ørbeck
Nilssen, CEO, DNV Maritime
These are exciting and challenging times for the maritime industry.
As the global maritime industry navigates a decade of transformation, marked by decarbonization, digitalization, and geopolitical instability, a pressing concern is quietly compounding beneath the surface: the ageing fleet. The 2024 DNV Maritime Safety Trends report delivers a stark warning—older vessels are driving a surge in incidents, with machinery failures at the helm.
Seems to me that abandoning the ship is the most favourite sport nowadays. Would suggest to increase the frequecy of abbandon ship drills and " abandon " the idea of all other drills dealing with saving the cargo/property like fire drills , loss of stability drills , loss of power drills , progressive flooding drills and all this time consuming idiotic mostly table top excercises .
Focus on life saving drills and the rest ?..F …ck it .
Who excePt insurance cares.
Why ??
My biggest life insurance as per shit short time contracts with German & Greek managers was 150 000 oiros.
the permanent disability was even more laughable . This is how valuable are the lives of " mid european peasants " ( as some here are fond of saying) and other flock of FOC cheap labor reservoirs, for the milking/ripping off/robbing champions of western civilisation.
What is most surprising , this COLLOSAL blood sucking monsters -now retired , have discovered in themselves the calling for helping this poor , suffering , underpaid, abandoned , interned on ships ( covid) creatures,
Almost all this CEOs murphed magically into Maria Teresas of Calcuta , engaging in turbo charged virtue signalling campaign on many forums . DISGUSTING
