Maersk container line triples profits despite COVID

The winning formula for container shipping that has emerged: consolidate capacity; toggle capacity in line with demand; go for profits not market share; split exposure between spot and period contracts; push spot customers toward digital booking platforms; and use spot booking data to more accurately toggle capacity in line with demand to further enhance earnings.

I know somebody who is intimate with the container shipping business and he says that the fact that they donot really mention is that they have tripled their tariffs during the covid period. Another factor is that they have dramatic less costs because much less ships are used with usually 100% container load.

Be careful mentioning your son, some on this site are assholes. My son is also in the container business, just took a 1200 ft MSC rig in the port.Largest since they got the new cranes Also, trying to mitigate the ILA stranglehold on port costs. It won’t be easy, but they are engaged. Damn proud of him.
