Annual profit ONE rises by 3229%

The Japanese container shipping company ONE has seen its profit catapult by 3,229.6% in the past financial year. The company, which brings together the container businesses of “K” Line, MOL and NYK, posted a profit of $ 3.5 billion, an increase of $ 3.4 billion from the $ 105 million presented a year ago.

In the early days of the Japanese joining forces in container shipping, which took place three years ago, ONE was still deeply in the red. The year before that “big” profit of 105 million, the company had lost more than half a billion dollars. The corona crisis, which last year turned out to be a financial boost for all major container shipping companies, thanks to an explosive online buying drive of consumers sitting at home and skyrocketing rates, has also proved to be the ultimate lifebuoy for ONE.

$3.5 billion in profit on $14.4 billion in revenue is really impressive for a shipping company. Crazy how the pandemic has affected things. (Also I’m not a shipping exec or financial wizard, so maybe there’s a reason that this isn’t actually that big of a deal)
