Looking for Research Vessel Leads

I’m a brand new 3rd Mate looking for any research vessel leads if anyone has any. So far I’ve only been able to find openings in Fairfield Nodal and Scripps Institution of Oceanography, which I have both sent applications into. If anyone had any other leads I would greatly appricate it. Thanks!

Try Stabbert Maritime out of Seattle. Chela Muren used to be the one to talk to. I’m sure she is still with the company but she may have a different position.

Thanks for the lead Azimuth!

You might want to look into becoming a NOAA Corps officer if you are set on sailing R/Vs. I am not sure how things are going to go with the NSF/ UNOLS fleet. Everyone is holding their breath to see which way the wind blows in 2012, we may be looking at significant budget cuts.

You might also try Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in Fort Pierce, FL.

HBOI is just an affiliate campus of FAU now, they sold the R/V Seward Johnson to Cepemar in Brazil, been there doing work for Petrobras since December.

Thanks Slowsailor and seadog. I’ll be sure to check out the NOAA Corps officer and HBOI.

Don’t bother with HBOI, they no longer operate any ships. In case it isn’t on your regular rounds, here is the jobs website for UNOLS. http://www.unols.org/jobs/jobs/index.html don’t bother with the Skidaway 1st mate listing, it is closed.

3PSC runs the T-AGS fleet through AMO. They’re survey ships and you get a good amount of shiphandling on them.
