Crowley on the East Coast and Gulf is SIU. What more do you need to know about how utterly worthless the SIU is? Or MMP Inland, or IBU. MEBA is a real union.
During my last trip (which ended last week) I wrote to the SIU about the minimum manning (and below) crisis going on at my place of employment and got no reply. Can’t get an answer out of them. This is a real safety issue and they could not possibly care less. The gov’t pays them to represent us, so I guess the mindset is, why pick that hill to die on? The free money is too good.
But someone else writes to them about a problem with the entree variety or expired yogurt, or penalty pay for washing their own sheets, and ermagerd! Up in arms!
And I was stupid enough to sign a dues card and get a C book for which my gov’t sea time does not count.
Not worth it. It’s all about the money.
