I see this as a positive both for 333 and my union, MMP. MMP’s insurance kicks ass and that alone is worth the price of admission. It doesn’t matter what division the 333 guys will be in. The insurance is the same. Putting them into the offshore division does not make a lot of sense as MMP’s definition of offshore isn’t what most on here think offshore means. MMP Offshore is all big ships. The only jobs I can think of that requires a towing endorsement would be the ITB’s with LMS in the Gulf.They have a hard time getting reliefs for those jobs because most big ship guys don’t have towing endorsements.
There are downsides with every business merger so suck it up buttercup and try to remain positive. In our trashed economy, beggars can’t be choosers.
