Greek shipowners invest 13.6 billion US dollars for 52 new LNG carriers
Greek shipowners are consolidating their position among the elite “players” of the LNG carrier market, implementing an expanded shipbuilding program that will increase their fleet in the coming years.
Greek shipowners have 52 LNG carriers on order, worth 13.6 billion US dollars. The Greek orderbook corresponds to 13.5% of the tonnage under construction in number of ships and 14.3% in value.
The global fleet of LNG carriers will grow by more than 50% in the coming years, as massive deliveries of new vessels from shipyards begin this year, in the wake of the order rally of the last four years.
Pavilion Energy said on February 19, 2024, the bunkering operation to Rio Tinto chartered dual-fueled bulk carrier, Mount Api was successfully completed.
PAOLINA COSULICH’s sister vessel and Fratelli Cosulich’s inaugural LNG bunker barge, ALICE COSULICH, was delivered and set sail from Qidong, China, towards Europe in October 2023. This vessel has been chartered to Titan Clean Fuels for a multi-year period.
Qatar already has more than 10 Q-Max vessels on a long-term charter with a carrying capacity of around 266,000 cu m (pictured), supplying Far Eastern, European and various other markets.
