Does anyone know if it is possible to join the union, get on a ship for maybe one or two hitches , and then get out of it . Like how much you would pay and things like that. Thanks
What do you mean how much you would pay? You have quarterly dues while you ship, and I think AMO takes a chunk of your ‘vacation’ pay. Other than that, you don’t have to pay to quit I don’t believe. Just stop paying dues.
You don’t have to pay anything until you get off your 1st ship and apply for vacation. I don’t think there is a minimum to pay towards initiation… So $350 for quarterly dues and $100 towards initation.

No you wouldn’t have to pay the entire fee. they’d like to see you do it, but you don’t have to.
