Know Singapore

Not everybody agrees with the statement in the last post:

But then you can’t thrust anything said by Class, right?

What about OECD?:

Singapore: Rapid Improvement Followed by Strong … - OECD

That doesnt change the reality of what foreign companies think of the employ-ability of Singaporeans as there is too much rote learning under the current system.

The propaganda is for the parents ( and OM) to proudly say we have the best system, yet their kids are competing with foreign workers for jobs and not competing very well.
( There must be at least one press release somewhere in the world every day about some poll nobody has every heard of where Singapore is at the top, there must be a whole gov department for it)
The gov knows but they arent going to make it public are they?
Its a well hashed conversation among the elite whose kids all stay overseas after their uni courses.
Back to reality…

There is huge funding to upskill Singaporeans even PR’s for just about any course, slightly ironic in a country that keep telling everyone it has a high standard of education?
2 weeks ago Temasek announced a fund to send bankers overseas to gain experience, lol

Nice to see that you link to someting tangible, not blogs. conspiracy theory sites, or make reference to some unnamed “buddies that work in the industry”.

That is a good idea. Gaining overseas experience can be recommended for a lot more than bankers and Singaporeans.

correct thats why Singapore is full of foreigners making the place run

Or gaining foreign experience and learning how to run a country efficiently?

As a Foreigner you certainly learn how to run a country for the benefit of the wealthy, local and foreigners.
Not much to take home on how to run a fair society for the benefit of all.
Can you think of anything?
10% are living overseas and growing

Yes I can.

you need to read the post, by volume in a single country its Malaysia then Australia, UK and the USA which added are almost double the Malaysian count.
Language skills have died out here, the 60yrs and over can speak Malay English, family dialect and Mandarin as you would remember.
Under 20 good with English and Mandarin, 20 to 60 English and maybe one other.
Plenty cant speak with their grandparents as they need family dialect.
(Many older Indians can speak a Chinese dialect but not young ones.)

You love to dream about things rather than reality, perhaps what you think was all true 40 years ago, the gov of LKY did a great job but he also engineered the issues Singapore has today and the current gov is struggling to turn that around.
Too much time and resources spent staying in power rather than lifting the population up.
Lots of shiny infrastructure built by foreigners full of foreign companies and employees.

Singapore may be small and overcrowded and, in these days of travel restrictions some people may get “island feaver”. But there are a lot of things to see and experience for those who care to look:

he ArtScience Museum stands out as an architectural marvel in the Marina Bay area.

Just in case you thought that Singapore was just an urban jungle, think again:

If you are out and about in Singapore, especially around Garden by the Bay, Bishan Park and other places where otters are known to live/visit, follow the advise from Singapore’s National Parks Board (PB). They have issued an advisory on what to do if you cross paths with an otter family;
“DO NOT touch, chase or corner the otters. Observe them from a distance. Going too close to the otters may frighten them,” it warned:

PS> Similar warning about Wild Boars and Monkeys have been issued in other parts of Singapore

Looks like PSA is doing good despite labour shortage:
https://www.seatrade-maritime.com/ports-logistics/psa-sets-container-volume-record-2021

which type of record?
https://www.seatrade-maritime.com/ports-logistics/psa-sets-container-volume-record-2021
with growth of 1.6% at PSA Singapore bringing a record 37.2m teu

The port handled 37.2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers and 626.2 million tonnes of cargo in 2019. It attracts approximately 130,000 vessel calls a year, on an average, currently.

OK a record under covid…

Obviously the record is for PSA International:

The increase at the Singapore terminals are 1.6% over 2020 volume.

Or maybe the record WAS broken?:
Port of Singapore hits record high container throughput of 37.5 million TEUs.

PS> That is the figure Splash 24/7 predicted in mid-Dec. 2021.
(Maybe that has been taken as fact?)

What I pasted was 2019 showing same teu number so what record less one under covid?

One more time. 37.5 Mill TEU in 2021:
