Also in Japan the depth of your bow is based on your station. The higher your station the shallower you bow and the lower your station the deeper you bow. The president of the US should have barely inclined his head, not bowed 90°.

It was an executive order issued to help convince border slave states that were on the fence to not secede. It essentially said, “if you secede and lose the war you lose your slaves.”
The Thirteenth Amendment is what actually freed the slaves, which was after Lincoln’s death.

The union was so concerned about the freeing of the slaves. When the occupiers took over the Texas ag business at the end of the war, they waited a year to tell the slaves that they were free. After the cotton and sugar cane was harvested.

It’s not splitting hairs. The EP freed the slaves in southern territory that was occupied by federal troops. The slaves that were in the northern states were not freed until after the war when the 13th amendment was ratified.

It’s kind of splitting hairs. Full emancipation was obviously Lincoln and the Union’s end goal. Lincoln just got assassinated by some deranged southerner before he could see it through.

Abolitionist were a minority in the North. The war wasn’t specifically about abolishing slavery so much as it was about irreconcilable political differences, especially differences regarding the expansion of slavery to new territories. Look what was going on in Kansas prior to the war. Bleeding Kansas.

THE FUCK! ain’t losing any argument here. Not about Obama bowing and scraping because a certain other President both bowed and sucked face with a certain Saudi King! So, essentially, this is a thread about ISIS (an organization that has burnt and slit the throats of several Americans - not to mention posting these deranged videos online for the families to witness first hand)and their apparent aspiration to expand capabities on the water, but for the life of me, I do not understand how in the hell that subject matter can turn into a conversation about what part of America (as if there is more than one) did what several hundred years ago - along with you guys trying hard to cut each other’s throats.

I doubt very seriously when ISIS took the life of James Foley, that these terrorists looked at his drivers license to determine if he was from the North or South like that would make a difference at all. 90% of this thread is not Maritime News and deserves to be locked.
