Is MSC laying up ships?

This is too true. The unlicensed are running the ship. Chief mates/First engineers are too scared to catch an EEO case to enforce any disciplinary action. It’s crazy. On the 03 and 04 levels where the unlicensed stay, there is loud music played all night and people congregating in the p ways like it’s some carnival cruise. I constantly get calls from people trying to sleep. There’s no repercussion. People working the mess deck walking around with rap music blasting from their phones during meal hours. Complete circus. Active prostitution etc. good stuff

In @Salvatore_Mercoglian latest video on the USNS Big Horn, he mentions at 10:45 that he’s heard the Secretary of the Navy may have put a stop to the 17 Ship layup plans.

Not sure if there’s any more info on this, but while clearly they need active ships if they keep running them aground, that still won’t solve their manning issues if they truely hopped to redistribute crew from the laid up vessels.

I did a podcast with a source who said that the SecNav has put it on hold and is waiting until after the election, probably December to move forward on the issue.
