oh no! I will know the real evil midget’s head when it is brought to me on a pike. Still, can’t hurt to behead a few extra just for the practice
That’s funny, because only one of us actually knows the other’s TRUE identity.
That is probably the lamest threat and worst retort possible. Come on people were all just having fun here, don’t be so thin-skinned. The fact that you want to bring up someone’s real life identity, and use that is pretty low.

I never threatened anyone, nor would I. And, believe me, c.captain isn’t getting under my skin–I just find it amusing to watch him get his jimmies rustled and start foaming at the mouth.
Well come on now, you’re just straight up admitting to being a forum troll. You can’t complain that that’s what he does to everyone then do it yourself.

Trolls are such soiled creatures…I prefer being labelled a forum wiseasshole…

Most everyone in the industry knows C.Captain’s true identity - he’s famous, or infamous - take your pick.
Just read this whole thread a couple of times as this is something near and dear to me. I work deep sea and have sold everything and moved overseas full time. I did it for a lot of the reasons that are mentioned in this thread and not just by the OP. Everything from the divorce/alimony laws to the completely BROKEN system of (non) governance we have in place, to the ultra-hyper PC climate we live in where if you’re not one of the “protected classes” (just learned that term in my Leadership and Management class…thanks STCW) then you can’t call BS when you see it without being labeled a racist/misogynist/xenophobe/etc. Even in this thread, as soon as someone suggested that allowing unchecked amounts of unvetted persons into our country is a bad idea, BOOM race card was thrown down.
So basically I stopped trying to fight it and have just “opened my eyes” (as one of the post in this thread suggested) and realized that the US is probably not in my best interest long term.
So anyway, to the OP (if you’re still there), yes it can be done. My advice would be to shed yourself of ALL “things” you have in the US because “things” cost money. And every dime you spend here is a dime that’s not being spent where you plan to be. Also, I would suggest working as long of hitches as you can. Everytime you crewchange there are logistical expenses beyond the obvious ones and it adds up. With the SIU, you’ll work at least 60 days in a shot and eventually settle into a schedule of 120 on/60 off. Get your license and it can be 90 on/off with much larger income. In your place overseas, get your shit setup so that when you stop working you’ll have some kind of passive income stream in country (rental properties, corner store, etc.)
The bottom line is that if you’ve really decided that living overseas is what you want to do, then commit fully to it and don’t look back.
I know, but still let’s not throw that around as a jab. And haha I think both famous and infamous would be appropriate.
I don’t consider being referred to as infamous is a jab at all but a sign that I am doing my job here. Controversy is key to meaningful discussions. DYA HEAR THAT JEAUKX?
