Loaded the app and played with - cool. Closed it and see a red 1 on the icon. Went looking for a new pm, etc but am not finding anything tied to the alert. Any hints?

In addition to a private message, the number can mean you have a friend request or, more likely, that someone replied to a “subscribed thread”.
A subscribed thread is any post that you have left a comment on.
To view subscribed threads click on “More” then “subscribed”
