My guess is a retiring Air Force 1.

Lots of cool toys for sale. I even found the Saybrook Lighthouse a the mouth of the CT River is up for auction. How cool would that be?

The mold should be gone now. Inspect for any significant wasting. If found, treat with CPES or other epoxy sealer (Not Git-Rot). Now go back to the paint store and buy a gallon bucket of Fosters, Fiberlock or PermaWhite antimicrobial sealcoat. These come in White, Black or Clear. I recommend white. Cover anything you do not want overspray on with plastic sheeting, then pull out your airless sprayer and coat the entire bilge. [/QUOTE]
Just a cautionary note for when you get to this stage - seek some second opinions. Take some digital pics and share them with a really good shipright in your area. NOT WEST MARINE! You may want to throw him some money for an inspection and recommendation. If wood is wasted, he can advise how much wasting is OK or whether magic potions will be of value. Sometimes, a piece of wood just has to be replaced. We won’t know until we get to that stage. He may also suggest cheaper alternatives than what I suggested (CPES, epoxy resin and antimirobial sealcoat are not cheap) Alternative treatments include red lead, cuprinol, Quatnary ammonium chloride, and copper sulfate.
Another good source of info is “Wooden Boat Forum”. Post up your project with progress reports and you will get many followers and some great advice.
I just pulled one out of storage in Bremerton a month or so ago a guy had bought at auction. Most of them are in fairly good shape all things considering. The one I pulled out had only been out of service since 01’ I think.

That one does have the potential to be a better buy that the boat I bought but much more expensive to keep
Wow, that is pretty damn cool! Congrats, followed by a close ‘you are crazy’, followed by a close ‘I am super jealous’!

Thank you very much…I am on my way down to Seattle in a few moments to take possession of the boat. She’s paid for already so no turning back now…must have courage and endeavor to persevere!

Second best day of a boaters life.

quit saying that!
I wasn’t planning on putting the thing to work … It would make a very cool industrial cruising yacht …
I hope that everything is as it is supposed to be when you get onboard her. I may have missed it but is she sea worthy and are you planning on running her to her new home, where ever that may be?
Have Fun, I am sure that I speak for most of us here when I say we are all very jealous and wish that we could be with you!
If you every want the help of a broken down old time Engineer let me know. I really used to love working on old boats, My Wife has suggested getting professional help but I just can’t help myself as I drool over any and all old vessels.
No, it’s the mini-me version of Air Force 1. Try this link: MSN
WTF! How much money do we spend every year flying first ladies, members of Congress and the Joint Chiefs of Staff around in their own jet? If they MUST have the perk, jsuy them bloody first class tickets on commercial jets for Christ’s Sake! The Air Force should not be in the private executive jet business…FUCKING Federal Government overspending!
On another note, signed for my vessel today so she is all mine now! Just so long as she doesn’t sink at the dock before I can move her this weekend!

Now that would be an ambitious but very cool conversion! I’d paint her all flat black when done!

Hate to tell you this, but if she sinks at the dock you really own her - AND every drop of oil that floats to the surface. Ah, forgetaboutit. That’s why you have insurance. (You did buy liability insurance didn’t you?)

would you just be quiet now!
Speaking of bloody, first class tickets and the occasional private charter is how the british prime minister travelsbut, to answer your question, Air Force One alone costs an estimated $280 million per year to operate… add in the cost for the First Lady’s flights, Marine One and those Armored campaign busses and you’re looking at a yearly cost about equal to the entire annual budget of MARAD to shuttle around one man and his wife ![]()
And the Presidential flights are just a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of ferrying the Vice President, Secretary of State, Admirals, Generals, Senators and other dignitaries around. Here’s a photo a friend took of just some of the government planes parked on the tarmac of Philadelphia Airport for the Army Navy game last year:
Hell, even the USCG has two (one for Papp and another for Janet) at a purchase price of $65 million each.
Like I said before… the USMMA budget is just a drop in the bucket my friend ![]()
