You win best post of the thread.
I’d personally specify waxed rather than shaven. But that’s just me; call me old-fashioned.
CCaptain, are those boxes full of khaki uniforms with iron-on name tags?
What is the poor prick in management there thinking as he reads this? We know more people read this drivel than they’d admit. And we haven’t even addressed the bachelors degree requirement yet.
what is their pay like although I say EFF YOU to the clean shaven BS. Unless you have to wear a respirator but even then a mustache should be ok!
I have a distinct memory that one of the captains I talked to gave me the oddly specific number of $463 as the day rate for mates (?), and I also remember him saying a 300-day base, though that doesn’t make any sense at all since I know that unless they have offshore towing jobs they’re basically working 0700-0400 or somesuch, home nights and weekends.
Or vagina, you may not have seen one in a while. Try redtube if you need some reference material.

of course I have been to Virginia!
CCaptain, are those boxes full of khaki uniforms with iron-on name tags?
I think they must be exploding vests or used bedding the company got from Goodwill they plan to distribute to the fleet
amazing!..you found a photo of the entire Shmignet Marine management team!
well done!
“Hey Beavis this is like worse than those bungholes at Burger World huh huh huh.”

you realize of course that Joe Boss and his son are worth at least $100M each!

Or whatever you fancy! Some people are into the totally bare as a baby look.
I prefer to call it a scorched earth policy
I can clear up a couple things.
The facial hair policy allows for mustaches.
There is NO WAY the owner is an Obama supporter.
Nor is he a Jesus freak.
Every company has its own way of doing things. Especially privately owned ones with 1 person calling the shots. The no tobacco, visible tats, and clean shaven is his way and he has the right to do it just like you have the right not to work there if you disagree.
Its not a normal tug company and the captains have a lot of face to face interaction with customers so appearance is important.

My Oh MY! Somebody here is a bit touchy…aren’t they?
My Oh MY! Somebody here is a bit touchy…aren’t they?
No. Not touchy. Just staying if you don’t like the way a company does things don’t work there. I don’t have a problem with it.
I don’t smoke, don’t mind shaving every few days, and the only time my lady bug tattoo shows is when I’m wearing a belly shirt.

too much detail!
and be extremely grateful for all the photos I chose not to include in this post…
thank you
You can count me as one. Not so much a look as a “feel.”
I heard Jesus was a factor, well I stand corrected. I work for a family owner company but they don’t give a shit as long as we aren’t smashing up the equipment or getting guys hurt. Luckily my Joe boss has a beard himself!
Well us tattooed guys with beards and or goatees that have all of the required credentials prefer to work elsewhere. Other than companies that do not look down upon us because they prefer our abilities instead of our monthly contribution to Gillette.I am willing to bet that us undesirables can run a boat much better than the clean shaven yuppie kool aid drinkers. I applied there once and even with the closeness had no desire to ever be a part of that fraternity.

Why all this animosity towards Signet? What happened when you applied? If you have an issue with the way it’s run you’re beef is with the owner and the office, not the guys running the boats. At the end of the day they’re just trying make a living and provide for their families. Just like you.
Yes that is total BS, an officer in the Navy can wear a beard but not somebody who runs an un-inspected tugboat. I bet the owner of that company is a big supporter of our Kenyan born leader too.
well if you are talking about the US Navy then you are wrong. They do not allow beards (with an exception for special forces personnel operating in the field).

I have no problem with anybody working there. It was many years ago when I talked to them and the day rate was way below average. Not sure about now but I can’t work there anyway. I have a beard and visible tattoos.
