In plainer English, Oman, don’t be tempted to join Iran and levy tolls for ships passing through the straits. Even you understand that such a move is anathema to the existing right of innocent passage through other nations’ territorial seas.
I know that it’s an argument but I am totally confused.
I am just a simple sailor
Do not be so modest Herr 244.
Not just a sailor but English or may be Welsh sailor und retired. So I salute you.
" US ‘disables’ ship with Hellfire missile in Gulf of Oman"
More cuntish murder of civilian merchant seafarers!
US military stops another merchant ship in Iranian port blockade | AP News
It is just one more illegal act of war committed by the newest rogue nation. It should be inconceivable that a US naval officer would follow the illegal order to fire on that ship. However, under the current regime the “rule of law” and international law in general has become, in the worst case, nothing more than a minor inconvenience.
History shows us this will not end well for the aggressor nation.
The Gambia-flagged cargo ship Lian Star ignored more than 20 warnings from U.S. forces overnight as it tried to enter an Iranian port, the military said.
Looks like a clear cut case of suicide to me.
Yes, alas for the aggressor over decades, the IRGC.
Indeed,
Oil prices are set to jump by an “order of magnitude” level in a few weeks, one of ExxonMobil Corp.'s top executives said May 28 at an investment bank conference, where his view was echoed by Chevron Corp. leader Mike Wirth.
Trump has already said he’s not concerned about oil prices so things are going to get interesting for the rest of the world that is concerned.
- Given the US has a blockade against Iran. 2) Given, the Gambia-flagged cargo ship Lian Star ignored more than 20 warnings from U.S. forces overnight as it tried to enter an Iranian port, how would “disabling fire” be an illegal order?
The effect of the Hormuz crisis on the insurance market will last long after the crisis ends, no matter how it ends:

It seems we’ve bred a clutch of sea lawyers who maintain the right of a merchantman to be invulnerable in the face of an actual war, that this said merchantman can ply its trade in perfect safety in the face of two enemies engaged in kinetic warfare, this merchantman looks on in detached interest at a spectacle on an otherwise boringly routine run hauling cargo (as usual) and manned by a crew protected from any harm whatsoever because they are innocent merchant seafarers just scratching am existence from a rapacious boss somewhere in an ivory tower.
Anybody who would order harm to this pipe-dream idyll has to be a war criminal and hanged without delay. Er not the Iranians though - they cannot be faulted having been viciously attacked. Just the bully boy yanks and, of course, the jooooos.
The USA and Israel have attacked Iran (again).
The fact that Iran is a nasty theocracy doesn’t change that fact.
N Korea is an even nastier regime but the USA leaves it alone.
Because it has nukes…
So does Iran!
Right? I think? Isn’t that what they said? No? Maybe?
Iran striks back:
So what? Iran has attacked various Gulf states and Iran’s proxy, Hezbollah, continues attacks on Israel.
Are you suggesting USA and Israel surrender?
Would that bring the price of fuel down?
The only thing that will bring oil prices down is more oil. Stockpiles are being depleted now worldwide and oil execs are looking at 150-200/bbl prices in July. Even if the SOH was opened tomorrow it would take many months for the prices to fall enough to be seen at the pump and longer than that for other prices to decline. High prices ahead in all aspects of the economy for the foreseeable future. Best to ignore the ‘very near a deal’ talk and prepare for increased pain ahead worldwide.
But the Jones Act Waiver! It’s been so incredibly helpful!
