Well think about it… Hire experienced guy’s? No Way, Gary trained his guys well so they will return to the food bowl. No the Gravy Train they expected.
A very small percentage of ECO’s guys jumped ship to take employment at Harvey Gulf. I don’t care what anyone says ECO is a much better company to work for and I will explain why. First, ECO is not a company that just became a major player in the US OSV market. (In the big scheme of things Harvey is). Second, ECO has been paying superior wages to their employees for the last 15 plus years. (Harvey has just jumped to the highest in the last 1-2 years). Third, ECO has demonstrated that they are in the business for the long haul. (Harvey continually proves that they are looking to go public and Shane can cash out). Fourth, they have built an empire that positions them and their employees work for many years to come. (Who knows with Harvey).
There are a bunch of people on here that have mixed opinions of both companies and have every right to form their own opinion. Whether you like it or not ECO has positioned themselves to be in a very envious position and will continue to control their own destiny. They’re the only company who is building for jobs 5 plus years down the road and can financially afford to handle the commitments needed by Shell, BP, etc… By paying great wages, offering free training, developing their own DP system, design/build their own vessels, etc… they have done almost everything an employee can ask out of their employer. They may not pay the highest wages right now but in 10 years when you’re looking for a job they will still be around. The same can’t be said about others.
Note, I do not work for ECO, have never worked for ECO an don’t plan on working for them due to their office being located in Galliano. Purely and unbiased opinion.
Just curious, why not Galliano? Is it the physical location that is inconvenient for you, or is it what you feel Galliano represents that you don’t like?

Do they ship the orange kool-aid pre-mixed to your home address or do you have to add water?
What is it that Galliano represents that is so different from larose, raceland, harvey, covington, morgan city, st rose, des allemandes. etc.?
I just don’t want to live in any of those towns. I live in close proximity to all of my immediate family members and want my children to be able to spend time with them as they grow up.

He said he works shoreside… does your shoreside management live at the office?

Probably nowhere near it. At least they’re never there when you call them.
WHY DON’T WE END THIS BLATHER BY SIMPLY SAYING THAT JOE BOSS DOESN’T GIVE ONE FLYING FUCK FOR THE MARINERS BEYOND HIS NEED TO HAVE THEM RUN HIS BLOODY MONEY MAKING MACHINES…END OF DISCUSSION!

Yet you continue to work for them. If it bothers you that much go start your own company if not quit complaining.

the FUCK I do! I haven’t worked for an OMSA member company since 2007 and not planning to go back to one (as if they’d take me if i wanted to?)
btw, I started my own company and will be running my own vessel this year. Recall the r/v ORCA perhaps? Won’t get rich but I won’t have to eat a Joe Boss shitsandwich either
