Harvey Gulf offering sign on bonus

Harvey is offering up to $10,000 sign on bonus for supply boat crew. $5,000 for the new hire and $5,000 for the employee who recomended them. Haven’t heard if it is working or not, anyone else hear this?

I guess that is only for people with current DP Unlimited rating?

I don’t know, but it includes AB’s too

Sounds like you should quit your current job today, right now, and go check that out…let us know how that works for you…

new here but i know for O/S like all other companies ALL i ever got was a voice mail box with no return… finally got on with MSC through thier OS advancement program!

If you’re a current employee at Harvey Gulf DM me and I will drop your name on the app! Let’s see if it’s true. I’m ready for a switch.

Everyone hurry before c.captain and his friends come and take all the money and the jobs!

yeah, any employees on here? I would like to know conditions there and if its a decent company to work for. I’m working only temp jobs for now and its pretty slow (UL Master/SDPO). Hoping to find a good company to work for before I sign on again. Tired of all the BS…

I’se already gots a job and it’s not with the likes of the Guidry’s or Candies’ or Hornbeck’s or Chouest’s or any other of the LaFourche mafia families. Been there already and don’t want to go back to that way of being treated. I’ve said it before but as long as these companies have their OSV only captives it will be the same old “never hungry but never full either” way of doing business. But hell you’re working for the “best damned company in the Gulf!” Just ask Mr. Joe Boss…he’ll make damned sure to tell you that everytime you see him. I bet he’ll also tell you that “the employees make the company” while the owners pocket the profits.

bon appitite y’all

I went by Harvey right before they started posting billboards claiming big money and now sign on bonuses.

Direct quote from the HR guy. “We are looking for guys with YEARS of DP experience.”

With only my Intro class done, a year of DP experience on 150ft mini supplies, and having just upgraded my license they felt I didn’t have the experience they where looking for. I can’t fault them for that.

So that said, don’t expect to just get a job with them if you don’t have a lot of experience running oil field supply boats with DP.

What is going on right now is everybody is moving up vertically. IE the top companies are losing guys to the drilling rigs, guys from the mid tier companies are moving up to fill those spots, and guys from the bottom rung are moving up to the mid tier companies. So everybody who thinks they are going to get a job at a top companies right off the bat need to dial back their expectations. Same goes with the mid companies when it comes to their newer equipment, but tough it out for a year or two and you will move up. We are just getting over the hang over caused by the last influx of sail boat and charter fishing guys who thought they could run a boat, so the top companies are still a little gun shy.

That being said ECO for you bigger license and Abdon Callais for 100 ton are two top companies that will hire new guys. I will warn the Abdon will make you run as a training captain and step through many hoops before your even allowed to drive into port or around a rig regardless of your experience, but again that comes from hiring to many inexperienced guys and putting them in charge to fast during the last boom.

I do predict that all of this will be null and void come this time next year and anybody with a license will be able to get the job of there choosing.

“the employees make the company”

That can cut both ways, know plenty of companies that I don’t want to work for because of the quality of the people they hire. But for the most part I just roll my eyes and collect my pay check when I hear that and wonder how they can say that and not pay for any training.

Don’t forget “We treat our employes like family”. Yea like red headed step children that we only let out of the closet to beat for asking for more porridge.

2500 each upon hire & 2500 each after 120 days. (Minus taxes I’m sure)

Well if this is legit, i’m looking for an AB job. Headed down to the gulf this weekend. If you work there send me a PM.

I am a Harvey employee and yes the sign on bonus is legit. My name is Leo Williams and they are looking for AB"s, qmeds, engineers, and captains. Message if you you want to know more and if you want to get the bonus.

Hi Leo,

What is the work schedule working for harvey Gulf?

28on -14off

Do they help pay for travel for out of state employees?

Thanks

I believe the purpose of a sign on bonus for recruiting new employees is designed to recruit people who are KNOWN by the employees. How is it benefiting the company to hire people of unknown character and work ethic who have simply pm’d an AB for his name to put on the application? That would be ridiculous. Hope that works for them…

Does Harvey have any use for <300 GRT MOTV, Near Coastal?

Also hold Master of Motor and Steam <200 GRT NC, Also Lifeboatman, and STCW II-3, also VI-5. Have 23 years of experience on commercial vessels, 13 on Tugs. The Tug experience includes single screw, twin screw, Z-Drive Tugs up to 6500 HP. Extensive experience in ship docking and escort service.

I know that I don’t have a big license like some of these guys on this board, but if necessary I could upgrade to a 1600 NC/Oceans if necessary. Just thought I would sniff the air a bit and see what kind of opportunities might be out there.
