Hey I’m thinking about joining the Merchant Sealift Command and am wondering about if they have any grooming standards. I have long hair that I’m pretty attached to and would rather not cut. I work in the shipyard as a welder/ pipefitter since I’ve was 18(23 now)and it’s never been a problem since I just braid it and keep it in my coveralls. So if I join the MSC will they require that I cut it?
Nah. If you have a beard you’ll have to keep it trimmed if you’re on a fire team. Hair doesn’t matter

MSC is pretty serious about the shaving requirements. Even for the woman.
