Gulf of Mexico Weather updated Monday 5/10/10

Strong low pressure over the Southern Plains will move ENE and weaken enroute to the Ohio Valley by Wednesday followed by a second low along a similar track Wed- Friday without any significant frontal troughs moving out over the Gulf. Expecting mostly moderate (forces 3-4) winds and seas over the spill area veering southeasterly increasing somewhat moderate to fresh (forces 4-5) by midweek then slowly diminishing to light by late Friday and Saturday. The persistent southeasterly flow will drive the oil closer to the Mississippi Coast and farther westward along the Louisiana coast.
