I’m curious about one aspect of General Average implementation…
What happens if a customer decides not to pick up their container(s) from a ship where GA has been declared, either because they cannot afford it, or no longer want the product??
A recent article regarding NYK Delphinus, stating that cargo discharge operations were going to begin, three months after their engine fire, and it also states “Among the cargo were a number of refrigerated reefer containers that had lost power in incident.” … it seems a fair guess that the container client won’t have much interest in those containers, and I’m wondering what their options are at this point…
