And you can also say that a majority of Israelis are innocent of making war on Gaza. Itâs like I said in my post to you: you can come up with any number of mutually contradictory statements re: Israel/Gaza, and have all of them be simultaneously true and simultaneously false.
When faced with this conundrum the human brain reverts to its hardwired default: tribalism. One side is evil and one side is good. Hence, no solution.

The US government doesnât seem to think that the Palestinian children are are terrorists.
With all itâs intelligence and diplomatic resources (far more than anyone on this forum), it seems to think that they are worth building a pier for to allow them to recieve aid.
The US government âwith all its intelligence and diplomatic resourcesâ has all the political clout and influence it needs to deliver food now if it had the will. Building a floating pier that wonât start bringing food in for months is a side show that is not saving anyone in Gaza from starving.
Itâs naĂŻve to believe that the US has any priority that takes precedence over its single most important goal, which is to maintain its grip on power at home and its degree of influence abroad.

I have seen on all TV channels covering news, the Arabs celebrating and rejoicing , clapping their hands and dancing -woman , children , young and erderly.
But i can not say it was in Ghaza. And I was furious at Americans they did not nuke them all the very next day .
But after that i started reading some books and my fury subsided substantialy . The first awakening came when I saw the number of casualties, when I expected btw 15-20 K basis info received from WTC guides regarding number of people working there and the number of visitors .
The next awakening came when the number af casualties of certain nationality/religion was revealed as it seemed most of them were late for work or took a day off. But enough abt my awakenings .
What I am suspecting nowadays after 23 years is that if such event was repeated again( God forbid) , the number of rejoicing hordes of people will not be limited to middle east only.

The Royal Fleet Auxiliary landing ship âRFA Cardigan Bayâ was earlier last week off the Gaza Strip, now she is in the port of Limassol, Cyprus.
A British company BG Group discovered and had an interest in the development of both Gaza Marine gas fields. They have since been bought out. There are some fascinating competing interests around the Gaza Waters. Apparently Israel have the final say on development.

In this country I am seeing a sharp rise of anti-semitism where people are not distinguishing between the religion and the state, some of it coming from people I would least expect.

In the U.S. opinion is more divided by age. More so than the Vietnam war.
As a septuagenarian, of course I view the situation differently from Gen Z. History was a requirement in secondary & college education. IMHO, Freighterman has offered the best âquick reviewâ of the current situation, & Bug is the bleeding heart.
What gets lost in the discussion, is the both the origin of modern Israel, and the why! But also, after the âOâ & the âWâ, is the way the UN partitioned the area.
And finally, donât forget how it wasnât Israel who started the conflict after the partition. As to how to resolve the ongoing strife, itâs well above my pay-grade. But unless my septuagenarian brain is completely fried, there was a cease-fire in effect on 06OCT23.
Israel, not doubt, is âheavy-handedâ in eradicating Hamas. Hamas is burrowed beneath apartments, hospitals, etc & using those locations to conduct war. Of course the opposing force will âneutralizeâ the source - kinetically. War is not video friendly.
And for the anti Israel/pro Palastinian protesters/rioters throughout the colleges & the world; WTF are you as the Chinese are wiping out the Uyghurs? Yâall are Fkâg hypocrites.

I dont think America has the superpowers you think it does. Aid convoys and airdrops have proven to be ineffective or insufficient earlier on in the conflict. Convoys were over run before they reached their destination, people got shot, bad look for everyone involved. Airdrops cant meet anywhere near the demand. As we should know as mariners, moving by sea is the most efficient way to move cargo.
I do have a bad feeling that this pier is going to get blown up along with some Americans, which just may be the match that blows this powder keg. A major part of the reason I said âno thank youâ when the hall was asking for folks to head over for 1,000/day as 2/M. Cant pay me enough.

Compare this to the Ukraine war. I am very pro-Ukraine. I also realize that Ukrainian leadership are at the top of the social media game. They retain support for their cause, in part, because of all those purpled haired geeks posting away on SM, shaping world perception. Their adversaries are good at this too, but more ham-fisted.
Hamas is winning the SM battle. Which may have been their intention.

How is it you know my name, mr ombugge. I am an active Merchant Mariner and have been for too many years. I am not talking tough. I am simply stating the fact that I have been there and done that and got the t shirts to prove it. I have ben an UNREP Bosn Mate, a Bosn and a hawsepiper 3/M. I have been shot at. Had to wear MOPP gear andactually got two medals. Yet you seem to disparage my service to my country. The palestinians have always been on the opposing side. Why in hell would I change my ind now?

The pier is pure political show biz. Not helping children starving NOW. The US provides billions of foreign aid to Egypt, Israel and Jordan, countries bordering Gaza. Make them an offer they canât refuse: allow your territory to be used as a staging area to bring the aid into Gaza or we stop propping you up.
Since the US is also the UNâs sugar daddy, how hard would it be to convince the organization to provide security for moving and distributing the food NOW?

Looks like Israel has stymied that idea though.
Wouldnât be surprised if Isreal attempts to force the remaining population of Gaza into those neighboring countries as refugees and completely occupy Gaza.
A successfully operating pier would be a hinderence to that.
