Future marine fuels

LNG may be the prefered Marine fuel until 2050:

By hydrogen is the likely winner in the race for the long term:

His is strongest argument for nukes I have seen in ages.

It’s kind of like the buggy whip manufacturers arguing against horseless carriages.

Which of the alternative marine fuels under discussion will be “THE Fuel of the Future”??:
Ship Owners Are Experimenting With New Fuels As the Clock Towards Decarbonization is Ticking | Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.

One more vote for Ammonia:

Anything has to be better than the post 2020 residual fuels that seemingly clog every purifier and filter on every ship within a few hours

Japan is hatching their bet:

While the Finns is making a different bet:

PS> That picture doesn’t look like it is in Finland.

The Danes want to lead in the race to clean marine fuel:

It is all within the EU so they can count on EU grants to help finance the project.

Petroleum fuels are excellent. That’s why everyone uses them … and will into the future.

This is an ever evolving story. Prior to petroleum, whale oil was quite popular.

So was wood and dung … and wind … and slaves …

Strangely, all are still prevalent in today’s world and even making a comeback.

Even if the ship use hydrogen as main fuel it is still money to be saved by using free wind power when it is available:

There is no such thing as a “zero-emission wind and hydrogen power cargo ship”.

Look! Over there! Unicorns!

Tell me how it went ten years after full time service please. I’d love to know how they got the materials to build the ship, manufacture, store and transport the hydrogen and feed the crew with zero “emissions”. Hydrogen takes more energy to make it than it returns producing useful work. And wind power is never going to propel cargo ships economically.

Why bother to even try, if you cannot reach perfection immediately??
Only in Oz do they manage to begin with perfection.

To do what exactly? Create more expensive shipping costs? Starve the planet of life-giving CO2? Make Leftists feel just that bit more sanctimonious? Or just destroy western civilisation?

We aren’t perfect. I never said we were. My governments are as stupid as yours.

Agree.

Implied??

Everybody is stupid, with one exception, …

Once again, you evaded the question.

Answer the question and stop the insults.
